Financial Controller

About the role

Weir is seeking a Financial Controller to lead the financial control environment across ten entities in multiple countries. Based in Madrid with a hybrid work arrangement, you will ensure accurate, timely, and compliant reporting while supporting the company’s sustainable mining mission.

Key responsibilities

• Lead financial governance and compliance, overseeing month‑end, quarter‑end, and year‑end closings, statutory reporting, and audit readiness in line with IFRS and local regulations.
• Manage and coordinate a geographically dispersed finance team, fostering a culture of operational excellence and continuous improvement.
• Engage with internal and external stakeholders to resolve complex financial issues and maintain balance‑sheet integrity.
• Oversee treasury operations, including cash‑flow forecasting, working‑capital management, FX risk hedging, and bank account administration.
• Drive harmonisation and standardisation of finance processes (R2R, P2P, OTC) across the region.
• Occasional travel to coordinate with teams across the ten countries and maintain a strong safety culture.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• Professional certification such as CPA, ACCA, or CIMA.
• Progressive accounting and finance experience, including leadership of multi‑country operations.
• Strong knowledge of IFRS, local statutory requirements, and SAP ERP systems.
