Global Development Medical Director, Late Respiratory and Immunology Clinical Development

About the role

AstraZeneca is looking for a Global Development Medical Director for its Late-stage Development, Respiratory and Immunology function. You will support the clinical project team and assist the Global Clinical Project Leader and Global Clinical Head with designing and interpreting clinical programs and studies, and give medical and scientific expertise to the development of compounds from Phase IIb through Phase IV.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the design, execution and interpretation of pivotal clinical trials and late-stage studies characterising respiratory and immunology products.
• Provide medical input to core labelling texts and support medical monitoring of clinical studies.
• Give expert medical input to regulatory documents and interact with regulatory authorities.
• Analyse and interpret data from ongoing studies and the literature.
• Develop and review protocols, informed consent forms, investigator's brochures and other clinical documents.
• Take part in preparing scientific publications and presentations at meetings and congresses.
• Collaborate with colleagues in Patient Safety, Regulatory Affairs and Clinical Operations, and with early-stage programs and medical affairs.

Required profile

• MD or MD/PhD degree.
• More than 3 years of pharmaceutical industry experience.
• More than 3 years of clinical research experience in an academic or clinical practice setting.
• Strong partnership and collaboration skills, able to lead and communicate across countries and cultures.
• Fluent oral and written English, with good presentation skills.
• Ideal background in pulmonary medicine, immunology, rheumatology, allergy or dermatology.
