Hardware/Software Assurance Engineer – Systems Engineering

About the role

An opportunity for a Hardware/Software Assurance Engineer has arisen within Airbus Defence and Space in Getafe (Madrid). The role is part of the Systems Engineering Department and is responsible for defining and implementing practices, tools, and techniques to ensure errors in requirements, design, and implementation are identified and corrected, guaranteeing compliance with the applicable certification basis.

Key responsibilities

• Define Certification Agreements by discussing and negotiating the Certification Basis and Certification Review Items with Airworthiness and Certification Authorities.
• Monitor supplier development, auditing compliance with RTCA/DO-254 and RTCA/DO-178 standards, including process controls, traceability, validation/verification, and Single Event Upset (SEU) control.
• Conduct internal pre‑certification audits to identify and resolve deficiencies ahead of official milestones.
• Establish and control hardware and software documentation packages required from suppliers at each development phase.
• Coordinate with equipment designers, Quality, Certification, Qualification, Safety, and Design Office teams to achieve civil and military aircraft equipment certification.

Required profile

• Degree in Engineering (Aeronautical, Electronics, Telecommunications, Systems or related discipline).
• Proven experience in hardware and software design assurance for aircraft equipment, including complex electronic hardware (ASICs, PLDs, COTS components).
• Strong knowledge of RTCA/DO-254 (hardware) and RTCA/DO-178 (software) standards.
• Advanced level of English; professional proficiency in Spanish is a plus.
