IT Infrastructure Engineer (Hybrid)

About the role

Roche is hiring an intermediate IT Infrastructure Engineer in Madrid for a hybrid position split 50/50 between traditional infrastructure engineering and infrastructure automation and coding. You will independently solve technical business problems and help design, build and implement resilient backup solutions, while applying DevOps practices to create test-driven infrastructure and continuous deployment pipelines.

Key responsibilities

• Design, build, test and implement integrated, reliable backup solutions on-premises or in the public cloud, complying with quality and regulatory standards.
• Work with product and support teams to escalate and resolve incidents and major incidents.
• Design and implement test-driven infrastructure and CI/CD pipelines, and provision and manage infrastructure as code and orchestration systems.
• Maintain documentation for designs, design patterns and automated component standards.
• Evaluate technologies through proofs of concept, act as a technical consultant to stakeholders, and take ownership of key deliverables.
• Collaborate with diverse teams, including virtual teams across locations.

Required profile

• 3-6 years of relevant experience, or 1-3 years with a Master's degree, preferably in a multinational environment.
• Demonstrated experience acting in a DevOps capacity and solving difficult technical problems independently.
• Experience designing and delivering IT infrastructure solutions, and representing workgroups on project teams, possibly leading small teams or mentoring.

Required skills

• Backup environments, specifically Cohesity; knowledge of Rubrik, Veeam or Commvault is highly desired.
• Strong Python for automation, with foundational skills in other languages.
• Hands-on experience with Ansible, Jenkins or equivalents, and RESTful API design and integration.
• Git and GitHub for version control.
• Scrum, Agile and ITIL methodologies; ITIL 4 Foundation certification highly desired.
• Nutanix AHV and VMware ESXi, PowerShell and Bash scripting, and Linux administration.
• Early experience or strong interest in AI agent workflows and the Model Context Protocol (MCP).
