IT System Administrator

About the role

As an IT System Administrator you will configure, install, maintain, upgrade, monitor, troubleshoot and optimise Windows‑based servers and virtualised environments in VMware and Azure. Your work will directly support Avnet’s EMEA business units and contribute to the reliability and performance of critical infrastructure.

Key responsibilities

• Install, troubleshoot, operate, adjust, support, monitor and test x86/x64 Windows servers and virtualised workloads in VMware and Azure.
• Monitor system performance using Microsoft System Center Operations Manager (SCOM) and conduct root‑cause analysis of incidents.
• Ensure availability and performance of all assigned systems.
• Support cross‑departmental IT infrastructure needs and participate in group‑wide initiatives.
• Create concepts, documentation and set‑up procedures autonomously.

Required profile

• Bachelor or Master degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience in IT infrastructure operations.
• Strong hardware and software troubleshooting abilities.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Windows Server 2019/2022/2025.
• Experience with server virtualization (VMware, Azure) and related technologies.
• Knowledge of Active Directory, DHCP, DNS, SCOM, storage, LAN, SAN, TCP/IP, backup and virtualization technologies.
• Flexibility to work in shift patterns, self‑initiative, teamwork and willingness to learn.
• Excellent communication skills in English.
