IT Systems Engineer – Build and Lead New IT Function

About the role

We are looking for an IT Systems Engineer to build and lead our brand‑new IT function in Barcelona. Reporting directly to the CTO, you will have full ownership of the infrastructure, security and automation roadmap, turning a green‑field environment into a reliable, fast and secure platform.

Key responsibilities

• Design, deploy and continuously improve Windows and Linux servers, Azure cloud services and VMware virtualization.
• Implement and maintain security controls, backup, disaster‑recovery and access management (Active Directory, least‑privilege).
• Manage networking components such as VPN, VLANs and Wi‑Fi, as well as storage solutions (NAS/SAN).
• Provide first‑line help‑desk support, onboarding of new users and documentation of processes.
• Support ISO 27001 and GDPR compliance, change‑management procedures and internal documentation.
• Administer Salesforce support and integrations and explore AI‑driven tools for the business.
• Identify inefficiencies, propose improvements and drive them to completion.

Required profile

• Degree in Computer Engineering, Information Systems, Telecom or a related field.
• 1‑2 years of hands‑on experience in IT/systems administration (including internships, personal projects or home‑lab work).
• Demonstrated example of a technical improvement, automation or built solution.
• Strong desire to learn automation tools such as Ansible, Terraform or Intune.
• Fluent in English and Spanish.

Required skills

• Windows Server, Linux, Microsoft Azure and VMware.
• Networking basics – VPN, firewalls, VLANs, Wi‑Fi.
• Active Directory and least‑privilege access concepts.
• Automation/Infrastructure‑as‑Code tools (Ansible, Terraform, Intune).
• Familiarity with Salesforce, AWS and ITSM platforms (Jira, ServiceNow, GLPI) is a plus.
