Junior Backend Engineer – Java & AWS

About the role

Volkswagen Group Services is looking for a Junior Backend Engineer to join its Digital:Hub in Spain. You will work on Java‑based cloud services that power automotive digital products, collaborating with cross‑functional teams in an agile, start‑up‑like environment.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain Java backend services and RESTful APIs using Spring Boot.
• Integrate applications with AWS services such as S3, RDS/DynamoDB, SQS/SNS, Lambda, and ECS/EKS.
• Contribute to CI/CD pipelines on GitHub, including pull‑requests, code reviews and GitHub Actions.
• Write clean, testable code and create unit and integration tests.
• Monitor application health with CloudWatch, troubleshoot issues and support production deployments.
• Document technical solutions, workflows and operational procedures.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT or a related field.
• Professional experience developing Java applications at a junior to mid level.
• Basic understanding of cloud environments, preferably AWS.
• Familiarity with RESTful APIs and relational or NoSQL databases.
• Experience using Git and collaborating in a team setting.
