Lawyer – Institutional & EU Law (Luxembourg)

About the role

The European Investment Bank is seeking a Lawyer specialised in Institutional and European Union law to join its Legal Corporate Department in Luxembourg. This fixed‑term position runs until March 2027 and requires regular on‑site presence at the bank’s headquarters, with relocation support provided.

Key responsibilities

• Represent the EIB as an agent in litigation before the Court of Justice of the European Union.
• Provide legal advice, notes and opinions on complex institutional, transparency, anti‑fraud and staff‑related matters.
• Conduct legal research and studies across the division’s remit.
• Participate in internal and external working groups, panels and task forces.
• Liaise with and supervise external counsel where required.
• Maintain contacts with counterparts within the EIB and with other EU institutions and IFIs.
• Stay up‑to‑date with relevant legal developments and contribute to related activities.

Required profile

• University degree in law (minimum Bachelor, preferably Master level).
• Master’s degree in EU law and bar qualification are strong assets.
• At least 5 years of relevant experience, preferably within EU institutions or an internationally recognised law firm.
• Demonstrated experience in EU litigation is a distinct advantage.
