Legal Counsel – Banking & MENA Markets

About the role

Join Aresbank’s legal team as a Legal Counsel and become a key driver of the bank’s expansion into European and MENA markets. You will use your expertise in Spanish law and banking finance to support strategic growth initiatives and build lasting client relationships.

Key responsibilities

• Draft, review and analyse a wide range of contracts, including loans, credit facilities, syndicated facilities and guarantees.
• Review corporate legal documentation such as Articles of Association, powers of attorney and certificates for account opening and contract signing.
• Coordinate with Spanish notaries for the execution of deeds, contracts and official certificates.
• Assist operational offices in applying legal policies and procedures, including approval of signature cards and collection rights.
• Provide legal advice on corporate, civil and bankruptcy law for contract signing across all offices.
• Manage withholding, seizure of account balances and respond to seizure orders from tax authorities and courts.
• Communicate with external lawyers, oversee legal proceedings and out‑of‑court resolutions.
• Prepare written communications to public authorities and third parties.

Required profile

• 3‑5 years of experience in the banking sector.
• Degree in Spanish Law.
• Strong knowledge of banking and finance law, preferably gained within a credit institution or law firm.
• Fluent written and spoken English; additional languages are a plus.
• Excellent commitment, proactivity, teamwork and negotiation skills.
