Manager of Financial Crime Compliance (FCC) Advisory

About the role

As a senior member of Santander Corporate & Investment Banking, you will lead the Financial Crime Compliance (FCC) Advisory function for the SCIB division in Spain. You will act as a subject‑matter expert, providing guidance on complex client relationships, high‑risk transactions and emerging regulatory requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Lead reviews of high‑risk transactions, client relationships and business activities, delivering FCC advisory opinions and recommendations.
• Provide real‑time FCC advisory support to Front Office, Operations and Compliance on transaction structures, sanctions, AML risks and financial crime typologies.
• Offer expert, risk‑based judgments on escalated client and transaction matters that may impact business decisions.
• Conduct testing of FCC controls, review artefacts and perform technical data‑testing activities.
• Assist in engagements with regulators, internal audit and senior governance committees on significant FCC issues and remediation actions.
• Perform horizon scanning and manage regulatory change to ensure ongoing compliance.
• Drive operational adequacy and effectiveness of the FCC control framework.

Required profile

• Extensive experience in financial crime compliance within banking or financial services.
• Strong knowledge of AML, sanctions, and related regulatory frameworks.
• Proven ability to advise senior business stakeholders and influence decisions.
• Experience interacting with regulators, auditors and governance bodies.
• Excellent analytical and risk‑assessment skills.

• Ability to interpret complex regulatory requirements and translate them into actionable advice.
