Material Planning Manager

About the role

We are looking for a Material Planning Manager to ensure material availability and production continuity for our automotive manufacturing operations in Europe. Based in Barcelona, you will work closely with commercial, production, logistics, engineering and supplier teams to optimise material planning and inventory control.

Key responsibilities

• Consolidate commercial and regional inputs to develop mid- and long-term demand forecasts for EU and non-EU parts.
• Translate sales forecasts into material demand plans and release requirements to component and outsourced manufacturers.
• Coordinate supplier deliveries against OEM production schedules to guarantee timely material supply.
• Maintain part master data, safety stock parameters and system settings to ensure order accuracy.
• Monitor daily supply status, track transportation progress and adjust safety stock levels as needed.
• Identify and mitigate supply risks, escalating issues related to weather, traffic or shortages.
• Resolve supply exceptions such as delays, shortages or quantity discrepancies.
• Manage supplier logistics performance and handle inquiries on material orders.
• Oversee engineering change implementation and part transitions during model-year changes.
• Analyse warehouse and subcontractor inventories to balance old and new part supply.

Required profile

• Proven experience in material planning, inventory control or supply chain coordination within an automotive or manufacturing environment.
• Strong analytical ability to monitor inventory coverage and adjust safety stock dynamically.
• Excellent communication skills to collaborate with cross-functional and multicultural teams.
• Ability to manage multiple supplier relationships and resolve logistical issues promptly.
• Detail-oriented approach to maintaining master data and system settings.
