Materials and Processes Engineer (Temporary Agency)

About the role

A temporary agency is recruiting a Materials and Processes engineer for the TADAP3 department within the Airframe organization of Airbus Defence & Space, based in Getafe (Madrid). The role covers development and design of solutions, materials qualifications, process control, testing and failure analysis, with a balance of technical expertise and some managerial skills.

Key responsibilities

• Lead research, development and optimisation of composite materials, metals, surface treatments, paints, sealants and elastomeric technologies.
• Develop and manage technical specifications and qualifications for materials and processes for military aircraft and related products.
• Advise design, manufacturing engineering, supply chain and quality departments on material queries and concessions.
• Represent the department in project meetings, MFTs and task groups, and lead process specifications and technical notes under the control of ADS SAU.
• Define test plans for R&T, design and development of new technologies and materials, and carry out failure analysis.
• Provide technical support to services, CML and the industrial environment.

Required profile

• Degree in Engineering or Science; a Master's degree is highly valued.
• At least 2 years of experience in materials and processes, with a comprehensive understanding of appropriate test methods.
• Experience developing qualifications for new materials, processes and suppliers.
• Advanced English and Spanish; other languages are appreciated.
• Availability for relatively frequent travel; international experience is valuable.

Required skills

• Knowledge of aircraft maintenance, services and CML, and of REACH.
• Impact analysis and problem-solving.
• Knowledge of scientific and technological laboratories (materials analysis, physical observation of samples).
• Knowledge of Airbus standards and quality standards, and of materials for low observability, thermal or electrical applications.
