Procurement Commodity Manager - Flight Controls

About the role

A vacancy has opened for a Commodity Manager within strategic procurement at Airbus Defence and Space, covering the Flight Controls Commodity for all ADS platforms. The role sits in the Getafe area and gives a wide view of the company's current and future business, working with well-established worldwide suppliers on complex work packages.

Key responsibilities

• Establish, implement and monitor a commodity strategy for your sub-commodities, including market, technology, tendering, negotiations and long-term contracts
• Develop supplier analysis, risk assessment and make-or-buy business cases
• Coordinate the activities of the Multifunctional Teams (e.g. Engineering, Finance, PMO, Quality) to secure the sub-commodity and enable value-for-money proposals
• Lead bids, tenders and supplier selection processes, and negotiate with suppliers to meet programme expectations
• Negotiate and manage supplier contracts, including exiting old contracts and setting up new ones
• Lead Supplier Evaluation Development (SED) and vendor management, defining action plans for strategic suppliers
• Contribute to procurement and value creation projects aimed at synergies and savings

Required profile

• Degree in Engineering, Business Management or equivalent
• At least 5 years of experience in procurement, engineering services and project/programme management
• Experience in a matrix organisation with a proven record of stakeholder management
• Ability to anticipate, assess and mitigate risks
• Strong negotiation, persuasion and relationship-building skills, and conflict management

• SAP knowledge is an asset
