Project Controller

About the role

Egis Group, a global engineering group that recently acquired an architectural firm known for designing football stadiums including three FIFA World Cup venues in Qatar, is hiring a Project Controller in Madrid. The role sits within the Finance function and works closely with Operations, supporting Project Managers and Contract Managers in financial performance, reporting, forecasting and risk management across the project lifecycle.

Key responsibilities

• Bid phase: support the Bid Manager in building the cost model and assessing financial feasibility, and help with Go/No-Go decisions
• Project start-up: transfer the project to the execution team, set up the billing plan and revenue schedule in the ERP, issue advance payment invoices and manage performance bonds and advance payment guarantees
• Project execution: lead quarterly financial reviews, analyse variances, update the estimated cost to complete, optimise billing milestones, prepare and follow up on invoices, and manage month-end closing (timesheets, intercompany transactions, cost provisions, revenue reconciliations)
• Project closeout: verify the closeout checklist, confirm final settlement, cancel outstanding guarantees and insurance policies, and ensure all revenue is invoiced and collected
• Support tax-related inquiries and audit requirements, and take part in lessons learned reviews

Required profile

• Project finance experience, preferably in engineering, consulting or professional services
• Familiarity with billing structures, revenue recognition and risk allocation
• Ability to handle multiple projects and meet month-end and reporting deadlines
• Ability to make sound financial decisions with minimal supervision
• Clear communication of financial information to operational teams, management and external auditors
