Research Scientist – Machine Learning & NLP

About the role

NielsenIQ is seeking a Research Scientist who blends deep machine‑learning expertise with the ability to translate technical concepts for business stakeholders. You will explore state‑of‑the‑art AI methods, innovate on recommender systems and natural‑language processing, and apply them to large‑scale, global projects.

Key responsibilities

• Research, evaluate, and adapt cutting‑edge AI techniques for large‑scale problems.
• Fine‑tune and benchmark Transformer‑based and embedding models for domain‑specific use cases.
• Contribute to initiatives in Information Retrieval, Product Matching, Recommendation Systems, and Generative AI.
• Collaborate with engineering teams to integrate ML solutions into production pipelines.
• Produce scientific publications, patents, and internal innovation reports.
• Maintain high‑quality software and data assets following engineering best practices.
• Communicate findings and recommendations clearly to non‑technical stakeholders.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in Computer Science, AI, Machine Learning, Mathematics, Physics, or a related quantitative field.
• 3–6 years of experience in ML/DL research or applied AI.
• Proven ability to read, understand, and implement ideas from scientific papers.
• Strong analytical mindset with experience conducting feasibility studies and data‑driven solution design.
