RTO Consultant – Real Time Optimization (Hybrid, Madrid)

About the role

We are looking for a senior RTO Consultant to join AVEVA’s Global Optimization team in Madrid. The role combines deep refinery and petrochemical process knowledge with advanced software implementation to deliver real‑time optimisation solutions for our customers.

Key responsibilities

• Design, configure and implement Real Time Optimization (RTO) applications for refinery and petrochemical units using AVEVA Process Optimization (APO) software.
• Maintain and support the existing RTO application portfolio, ensuring high availability and performance.
• Act as the primary technical liaison with customers, defining project requirements and guaranteeing that engineered solutions meet functional, quality and documentation standards.
• Troubleshoot technical issues during project execution and manage change control, risk and opportunity identification.
• Review process flow diagrams and P&IDs, perform database updates, execute complex calculations and manipulate data files for analysis.
• Collaborate with other AVEVA project teams and contribute to additional project areas as needed.

Required profile

• Chemical Process or Control Engineer with 10+ years of experience in optimisation of refinery and/or petrochemical operations.
• Expert user of rigorous refinery process simulation tools or advanced control systems.
• Fluent in English; Arabic knowledge is a plus.

Required skills

• AVEO Process Optimization (APO) software.
• PI Asset Framework and PI Vision.
• Programming in TCL, Python, Excel VBA and SQL.
• Power BI Services.
