Senior Knowledge Base Scientist – CDAIO

About the role

As a Senior Knowledge Base Scientist within Santander’s AI Transformation team, you will lead the design and implementation of the bank’s AI Knowledge Base for the Spanish market. You will bridge business needs, AI research and technology to deliver scalable, agent‑ready data structures that drive measurable value.

Key responsibilities

• Provide scientific and technical leadership for the local implementation and evolution of the AI Knowledge Base, focusing on knowledge representation, graph systems and semantic indexing.
• Design, develop and maintain local Knowledge Base instances, ensuring structured and unstructured data are connected, semantically described and accessible to AI agents.
• Define graph schemas, entity‑resolution strategies, metadata models and retrieval pipelines in collaboration with data, engineering and product teams.
• Adapt global architectural standards to local regulatory, linguistic and business constraints while maintaining alignment with worldwide guidelines.
• Contribute to evaluation frameworks, monitoring practices and continuous improvement of Knowledge Base components.
• Collaborate with global Knowledge Base leadership to share learnings, create reusable components and propagate successful patterns across markets.

Required profile

• Proven experience as an individual contributor in AI, knowledge representation or graph‑based systems.
• Strong scientific mindset with the ability to translate research into production‑ready solutions.
• Excellent collaboration skills to work with cross‑functional teams and stakeholders.
• Ability to navigate local regulatory and linguistic requirements.
