Senior Machine Learning Engineer (LLM)

About the role

Multiverse Computing, a well-funded deep-tech company founded in 2019 and described as the largest quantum software company in the EU, is looking for a Senior Machine Learning Engineer with a strong background in Large Language Models. You will help design, implement and improve language models and work with cross-functional teams to integrate them into products, while contributing to research and shaping the future of LLM and NLP technologies.

Key responsibilities

• Design and develop techniques to compress Large Language Models using quantum-inspired technologies.
• Evaluate and benchmark model performance, fine-tune and optimise LLMs for accuracy, robustness and efficiency.
• Build LLM-based applications such as RAG and AI agents.
• Assess model strengths and weaknesses, propose improvements and act as a domain expert in LLMs.
• Design, train and deliver custom deep learning models for clients, and work in areas beyond LLMs such as computer vision.
• Maintain documentation of development processes, experiments and results.
• Share knowledge with the team, guide juniors, take part in code reviews and stay up to date with LLM trends.

Required profile

• Bachelor's, Master's or Ph.D. in AI, Computer Science, Data Science or a related field.
• 5+ years of hands-on experience designing, training or fine-tuning deep learning models, preferably transformers or computer vision models.
• Solid mathematical foundations of deep learning algorithms and neural networks.
• Excellent problem-solving, debugging, performance analysis, test design and documentation skills.
• Strong understanding of GPU architectures and LLM hardware/software infrastructure.
• Previous research publications in deep learning or any tech field is a plus; fluent English preferred.

Required skills

• Python and libraries such as PyTorch and HuggingFace.
• Transformer models and libraries such as HuggingFace Transformers, Accelerate and Datasets.
• Cloud platforms (ideally AWS), Docker and deployment of AI solutions in the cloud.
• Preferred: HPC clusters, large datasets, TensorRT/vLLM, OpenLLM Leaderboard evaluation, RAG systems, MLOps and AI ethics.
