Senior System Administrator – Windows/Linux (Relocation to Brussels)

About the role

We are seeking a Senior System Administrator to join an European institution in Brussels. The role involves managing Windows and Linux server environments, virtualization, storage, and backup infrastructure while supporting a hybrid work schedule (3 days onsite, 2 days remote).

Key responsibilities

• Investigate, diagnose and resolve system, hardware and software incidents.
• Install, configure and upgrade infrastructure software, including monitoring solutions.
• Plan and execute upgrades and maintenance to minimise service disruption.
• Monitor performance and availability of servers, virtualisation, storage and backup platforms.
• Analyse storage environments and recommend optimisation actions.
• Maintain Data Centre hardware (servers, enclosures, UPS, patch panels, tape libraries, cabling).
• Configure and manage NetApp storage, including MetroCluster, and other enterprise storage systems (EMC VMAX/PMAX, HDS, HP, IBM, Pure Storage).
• Build and administer VMware vSphere clusters and Hyper‑V environments.
• Manage backup solutions such as NetBackup and Veritas PureDisk Appliance.
• Ensure compliance with security and organisational procedures.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent.
• At least 6 years of system administration experience in data‑centre environments.
• Strong knowledge of Windows and Linux server operating systems.
• Hands‑on experience with virtualization (VMware, Hyper‑V) and enterprise storage technologies.
• Proven ability to work independently and communicate fluently in English.
• Legal right to work in Belgium (work permit not provided).
