Simulation Software Engineer – GUI/HMI Profile

About the role

Airbus Defence and Space is looking for Simulation Software Engineers to join its Future Capabilities Simulation team in Getafe. The team defines and implements complex simulation assets for all programs and develops graphical user interfaces for multiple products and programs in the scope of simulation and virtualization. The role sits in an international environment requiring close coordination with internal colleagues, stakeholders and external partners, and calls for an Agile mindset.

Key responsibilities

• Design and develop Human Machine Interface (HMI) software for simulation solutions
• Derive system requirements from operational requirements
• Design the architecture of software modules for new simulator functionalities
• Perform integration testing
• Occasional travel abroad, mainly within the EU

Required profile

• Degree (or Master's degree) in Software, Aeronautical, Telecommunication Engineering or a related discipline
• Experience in the aviation, simulation or defence industry is beneficial
• Good English skills (B2/C1)
• Excellent software development skills
• Open-source contributions can be shared via a GitHub, Bitbucket or GitLab profile

Required skills

• Full-stack web technologies: JavaScript (ES6, Web Components, Proxies, async workers, HTML Canvas), HTML and CSS
• Node.js and Express.js, and common templates (Pug, Mustache, Dust)
• Mandatory: training simulators, distributed technologies, web frameworks, UI design and testing, cloud computing, web services, GIS assets and virtual engineering
• Valuable: GIS libraries (OpenLayers, Cesium, MapLibre), GIS servers (GeoServer), Electron, WebRTC, ffmpeg/gstreamer, WebGL, Qt for HMI, C++ and/or Python
