Skilled Operator

About the role

The Skilled Operator supports and executes operational activities and processes according to specifications and quality, safety and environment guidelines, to reach the production targets of the assigned area. This is the basic level of operator, performing simple operational processes in production by operating equipment and machinery that requires proficiency gained through on-the-job and specialised training. The work is largely semi-routine, supported by Multi-Skilled Operators, supervisors or team leaders when needed.

Key responsibilities

• Operate equipment and machinery and carry out tasks such as discharge, loading, transport, cleaning and labelling to keep production safe, effective and efficient.
• Inspect production equipment periodically, carry out small maintenance tasks, signal defects and, where appropriate, carry out minor repairs.
• Log data on production orders and activities in the appropriate logbooks or systems so that the progress of each order is clear.
• Report deviations in processes, techniques or systems and flag improvement opportunities with the supervisor.
• Work in compliance with personal and food safety, environmental and quality regulations and standards, promote SHEQ awareness and act on imminent hazards.
• Keep the work area clean and safe and maintain the appearance of the production lines and site.

Required profile

• Knowledge of the use of materials, equipment and tools, developed through training and experience.
• Ability to learn and perform semi-routine operational tasks.
