Software Engineer – AI‑Native Travel Products

About the role

FCM, part of the Flight Centre Travel Group, is looking for a Software Engineer to help build AI‑native products that enhance travel experiences for business travellers worldwide. You will join an agile squad, work with DevOps best practices, and have the autonomy to shape technical decisions while growing your expertise.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain backend services and micro‑services using Ruby on Rails.
• Integrate large‑language‑model (LLM) APIs such as OpenAI or Anthropic to power intelligent search, recommendations, and document processing.
• Engineer effective prompts and prompt chains for travel‑related use cases.
• Implement CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure‑as‑code, and containerised deployments on Azure.
• Monitor performance, respond to incidents, and ensure high availability.
• Participate in code reviews, contribute to architectural decisions, and mentor peers.

Required profile

• 3‑5 years of professional software development experience with a backend focus.
• Strong proficiency in Ruby on Rails and experience building APIs.
• Comfortable working in English within an international team; Spanish is a plus.
• Hands‑on experience with containers, Docker, Kubernetes, and cloud platforms (Azure).
• Familiarity with DevOps practices, CI/CD, IaC, and automated testing.
