Software Platform Engineer (Military Derivatives)

About the role

We are looking for a Software Platform Engineer to join Airbus Defence and Space in Getafe, Spain. The role is part of the Software Mission Systems Team and focuses on building the next‑generation development ecosystem through infrastructure automation and platform enablement.

Key responsibilities

• Design, configure and maintain robust CI/CD pipelines, including automated code analysis, linting and GUI testing.
• Develop APIs, internal tooling and platform services for a private PaaS that supports self‑service application deployment.
• Create and deploy virtualised test environments using containers (Docker, Podman) and hypervisors (KVM, QEMU) to emulate production setups.
• Automate infrastructure provisioning with Infrastructure as Code and advanced Bash/Python scripts to deliver “one‑command” environments.
• Optimise virtual network and middleware (DDS) architectures for high‑throughput, real‑time data communication.
• Produce technical documentation, architecture diagrams and self‑service guides for developers.

Required profile

• Degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science or equivalent.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in software, DevOps or platform engineering.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities, with experience working in multicultural, international teams.
• Fluent in English and Spanish, both written and spoken.

Required skills

• Linux systems administration and network configuration.
• Python and Bash scripting.
• CI/CD tools such as GitLab CI, GitHub Actions or Jenkins.
• Container technologies (Docker, Podman) and hypervisors (KVM, QEMU).
• Infrastructure as Code concepts.
• Knowledge of DDS, CMake, Qt framework.
