Sr. Controller – Consumer Industry

About the role

Howard Financial is seeking a hands‑on Senior Controller to lead its consumer industry accounting portfolio. The role combines technical accounting expertise, people leadership, and strategic partnership with clients.

Key responsibilities

• Own the full accounting cycle and lead month‑end/quarter‑end close processes.
• Lead, mentor, and develop a team of accounting professionals.
• Drive AI and automation initiatives to streamline accounting workflows and reduce manual effort.
• Serve as the primary accounting contact for consumer portfolio clients, building relationships and presenting financial results.
• Oversee accounting operations across the consumer industry portfolio, ensuring consistency and accuracy.

Required profile

• 7+ years of progressive accounting experience, including hands‑on Controller or senior accounting leadership.
• Deep knowledge of the consumer industry (CPG, retail, or related).
• Proven experience implementing accounting automations or AI‑driven process improvements.
• Strong client‑facing and communication skills.

Required skills

• ERP systems proficiency.
• Experience with AI‑driven automation in accounting processes.
• CPA certification (preferred).
