System Engineer with DNS Knowledge (IoT)

About the role

T-Systems Iberia is looking for a System Engineer to join its DNS Squad in Madrid, which runs the resolving and authoritative DNS systems for Deutsche Telekom AG. The platforms resolve DNS requests for mobile and fixed networks as well as for IoT, and the team owns their entire lifecycle and further development. You will work closely with suppliers and DevOps engineers to design, integrate, deploy, monitor and troubleshoot the resolving DNS platforms.

Key responsibilities

• Implement and operate physical, virtualized and containerized system environments, focusing on integrating a new IoT resolving platform in Kubernetes
• Analyze, troubleshoot and document system malfunctions
• Regularly check and refine automated processes such as failover, deployment and disaster recovery to keep the system highly available and resilient
• Identify, document and structure new test use cases
• Develop and optimize scripts (Ansible, Bash, Perl, Python)
• Implement changes in test, reference and production systems to improve stability and add features
• Develop new methods and tools for data analysis and monitoring
• Work with cross-functional teams and the German operations team to streamline processes and improve performance

Required profile

• Fundamental knowledge of DNS (PowerDNS, DoH/DoT/DoQ); experience in a Telco company preferred
• Extensive hands-on experience with Kubernetes to orchestrate CNFs, including adapting K8s configurations
• Experience with IP networks, routers and LAN/WAN technologies, and troubleshooting with tools such as Wireshark
• Nice to have: very good analytical skills, quality awareness, and experience in classic and agile cooperation
• On-call about 8 weeks per year and occasional work outside regular hours
