Team Leader Accountant

About the role

We are seeking a Team Leader Accountant to join our Finance department in Barcelona. Reporting to the Accountant Manager, you will support multiple countries within the Kaplan International Languages network, ensuring accurate financial reporting and month‑end processes.

Key responsibilities

• Liaise with the business to ensure completeness in the purchase ledger.
• Support forecasting, variance analysis and budgeting activities.
• Provide ad‑hoc assistance to senior team members as required.
• Own month‑end closure for assigned entities, including AR reconciliation and deferred revenue.
• Conduct P&L analysis for OPEX, services, residences and homestay.
• Prepare monthly reports and post pre‑payment journals.
• Maintain the fixed asset register and post depreciation journals.
• Manage utility contracts, post accruals and review invoices.
• Post general OPEX and residence cost accruals.
• Code and post credit‑card accruals.
• Perform balance‑sheet reconciliations.
• Support internal and external audits.
• Liaise with fiduciaries and external accounting departments.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree, preferably with accounting modules.
• Minimum 5 years experience in accounts payable, accounting and P&L analysis.
• Experience working in a large corporate accounting environment.
• Proven involvement in month‑end processes.
• Audit support experience is a plus.

Required skills

• Intermediate Excel (VLOOKUP, pivot tables, data formatting).
• Strong technical accounting knowledge.
• High attention to detail and systematic approach.
• Excellent written and verbal communication.
