Technical Product Owner / Manager

About the role

Roche Diagnostics Solutions (RDS), part of Roche's Computational Science & Informatics (CSI) unit, is looking for a Senior Product Owner who combines strong product ownership with effective collaboration with engineering teams. The role shapes the product vision, owns the backlog and turns business needs into clear priorities and requirements, working closely with C#/.NET and Rust engineering teams, Scrum Masters, QA, architects and stakeholders.

Key responsibilities

• Own and prioritize the product backlog so features align with business outcomes and the product roadmap.
• Act as the main contact for stakeholders, turning business needs into technical user stories and requirements.
• Work with engineering teams through planning, refinement, design and delivery, defining work packages and supporting estimation and sequencing.
• Support delivery on C#/.NET and Rust initiatives with clarity, trade-off decisions and prioritization.
• Report work status and issues to the team and project management, and review designs, usability and performance.
• Keep the team moving through ambiguity, ensure features follow the agreed architecture and quality standards, and manage project risks and external dependencies.

Required profile

• Degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related technical discipline.
• Product Owner experience with proven team leadership.
• Self-organized, highly collaborative, with strong analytical thinking, problem-solving and communication skills.
• Experience in regulated or enterprise environments is a plus.
• Fluent in written and spoken English.

Required skills

• Proficiency with development and collaboration tools, mainly GitHub; Visual Studio is beneficial for .NET work.
• Familiarity with Rust or technology migration initiatives is beneficial.
• Prototyping tools such as Axure RP for scope proposals.
• Object-oriented software design and JSON/XML-based configurations.
• CI/CD pipelines and build/test environment definitions.
• Agile tooling, SOLID principles, clean code and architecture patterns; AI-assisted development tools are an advantage.
