Wind Turbine Controls Technical Leader - Functionality Team

About the role

The Wind Turbine Controls Technical Leader is responsible for the turbine control software of various systems and components of a wind turbine. The role develops products, solutions and technology for wind turbine and farm-level control components, drives cost-out competitiveness, and develops technology to increase AEP and ensure world-class performance.

Key responsibilities

• Support leading a team of controls engineers focused on application software development, from requirements to production release and post-release support.
• Define the technical vision for a state-of-the-art software solution and lead its design, coding, testing, debugging and documentation.
• Lead Scrum ceremonies (scrum calls, sprint planning, sprint closure, retrospectives), remove impediments and track sprint velocity and other key metrics.
• Review the team's technical work for quality and adherence to standards, and coordinate the team to align with project goals and timelines.
• Work with Wind Engineering teams on priorities and deliverables, and engage with customers on fleet monitoring and issue resolution.
• Partner with stakeholders on corrective and preventative actions, and provide leadership with oversight of processes protecting intellectual property and export-controlled information.
• Foster a culture of collaboration, transparency and continuous improvement.

Required profile

• Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Controls Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or a similar field; Renewable Energy emphasis preferred.
• Proven experience in software development relevant to wind turbine control system design.
• Strong wind turbine controls system expertise.
• Strategic thinker able to solve complex technical challenges, self-starter who delivers results with minimal supervision.
• Ability to communicate technical problems clearly and work effectively with international teams in a fast-paced environment.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Matlab/Simulink.
• Experience with Agile methodology and leading sprint planning.
