AI Platform Engineer – Build Production‑Grade AI Services

About the role

As an AI Platform Engineer at BASF Digital Services, you will join the DevHub team that powers the Internal Developer Platform used by thousands of engineers worldwide. You will be responsible for turning AI capabilities into reusable, production‑grade services that are accessible directly from portals, IDEs and collaboration tools.

Key responsibilities

• Design and deliver self‑service AI building blocks such as retrieval engines, guardrail libraries and evaluation frameworks.
• Develop SDKs, APIs and scaffolding templates that enable other teams to integrate AI models securely and at scale.
• Create AI‑enhanced developer experiences, including conversational assistants and copilots, across web portals, GitHub Copilot/MCP and Microsoft Teams.
• Implement multi‑tenant, RBAC‑aware access controls, cost‑tracking and governance mechanisms required for enterprise use.
• Maintain observability with Grafana dashboards and ensure compliance with EU data residency and security standards.

Required profile

• Strong background in building platform services for large, distributed engineering organizations.
• Experience delivering AI solutions that serve both human users and automated agents.
• Ability to treat a platform as a product, focusing on reliability, versioning and developer adoption.
• Excellent problem‑solving skills and a collaborative mindset.
