Airborne Electronic Hardware Developer

About the role

Airbus Defence and Space is seeking an Airborne Electronic Hardware Developer to join the A/C & Mission System Integration Rigs domain within the Flight and Integration Test Centre of Competence in Getafe. The role covers the full life‑cycle of design, build and certification of airborne electronic products for defence and space programmes.

Key responsibilities

• Ensure compliance with aerospace standards DO‑254 and DO‑160 and prepare related technical documentation.
• Support equipment, hardware and firmware validation, verification, integration, qualification and environmental testing campaigns.
• Define equipment, hardware and firmware requirements and allocate system‑level requirements.
• Collaborate with hardware and firmware developers, system designers and certification authorities.
• Review component selection considering reliability, obsolescence, thermal and environmental constraints.
• Manage supplier work packages throughout prototype and production phases.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electronics, Telecommunications, Computer Engineering or related field.
• 10+ years experience in airborne equipment development and 5+ years in DO‑254 certification.
• Strong background in environmental qualification (DO‑160, MIL‑STD‑810) and safety‑critical analysis.
• Previous experience in aerospace, avionics, UAV or defence programmes.

Required skills

• DO‑254 and DO‑160 certification processes.
• FPGA design and verification (Vivado, VHDL).
• Programming in C, C++.
• Digital and analog high‑speed circuit design, signal and power integrity.
• Embedded architectures, EMI/EMC considerations.
• Use of Altium Designer, Cadence OrCAD, Mathworks Simulink.
• Knowledge of aerospace communication protocols (SPI, I2C, UART, CAN, Ethernet, ARINC).
