Airframe Structural Design Engineer – Military Derivatives

About the role

Airbus Defence and Space is building a new team in Getafe to work on an upcoming military aircraft derivatives programme that strengthens Spanish and European sovereignty. The role focuses on designing and developing structural components for military aircraft variants.

Key responsibilities

• Design and develop structural aircraft components, assemblies and installations using Catia V5 and CSG Full3D.
• Define design principles, key characteristics, interfaces, materials and detailed manufacturing processes.
• Participate in concurrent engineering with industrial and production teams throughout the product lifecycle.
• Collaborate with stress, analysis, loads, systems, armament, materials, aerodynamics and CAD offices to refine interfaces.
• Manage internal team members and external subcontractors, providing technical support to supply chain, quality, purchasing and certification functions.

Required profile

• Degree in Aeronautical, Aerospace, Industrial Engineering or a related technical discipline.
• Proven experience in airframe structural design using metallic and composite technologies on major components such as empennage, fuselage, wing or weapons bay.
• Strong communication skills, proactive attitude and ability to work in multicultural, multidisciplinary teams.
• Good command of English and Spanish, both written and spoken.
• Knowledge of structural design, pre‑sizing, configuration management, materials and manufacturing processes.
