Airworthiness & Certification Engineer (Military Derivatives)

About the role

Airbus Defence and Space is looking for an Airworthiness and Certification Engineer to join its Getafe, Spain site. You will be part of a new team building a brand-new military programme within the Military Derivatives department of Air Power, helping reinforce European sovereignty.

Key responsibilities

• Define the aircraft certification basis and strategy in line with the aircraft design and operations.
• Negotiate the certification and airworthiness approach with airworthiness authorities, including European and national ones.
• Coordinate with internal (design office, programme, chief engineering) and external (suppliers) stakeholders to define the best product strategy.
• Manage certification activities so that certification plans, means of compliance demonstrations and other deliverables meet quality, time and regulatory requirements.
• Support the complete product lifecycle in an end-to-end design and certification process, including integrating military systems and equipment into a civil derivative aircraft.
• Work closely with engineering design offices (stress, analysis, loads, systems, armament, aerodynamics, flight physics, configuration design) and support stakeholders such as the design office, quality and chief engineer.
• Define manuals, operational suitability data and continued airworthiness instructions, and define certification requirements for ICAs (AMM, troubleshooting manual, IPC, etc.) including ALS, supporting their timely approval.

Required profile

• At least 3 years of engineering experience.
• Degree in industrial engineering, aerospace engineering or a similar field.
• Good English; Spanish and French are an advantage.
• Security clearance or eligibility for it.
• Adaptability to new topics and businesses, ability to manage internal teams and external subcontractors, and good negotiation and influence skills.

Required skills

• Understanding of aircraft technical domains (structural design, flight physics, systems).
• Technical background in aerospace disciplines such as systems, structures, flight physics and flight control.
• Familiarity with airworthiness regulations.
