Assistant General Counsel – Telecoms & Renewables

About the role

Unison is seeking an Assistant General Counsel to support its fast‑growing telecoms and renewables portfolio across Europe. Based in Madrid, you will work closely with senior management and cross‑functional teams to drive acquisition transactions from inception to closing.

Key responsibilities

• Provide general legal support to the Regional General Counsel – Europe.
• Coordinate with internal and external counsel, brokers, notaries, banks and fund managers to manage telecom infrastructure acquisitions, including cell towers.
• Conduct legal and property due diligence, review leases and titles, and prepare pre‑closing reports and finance reviews.
• Draft contracts, notarial deeds and other transaction documents; oversee the full transaction lifecycle.
• Lead weekly legal coordination meetings and train origination teams on real‑estate matters.
• Manage a pipeline of renewable‑energy lease acquisitions across the EU, coordinating closing support with finance, legal and leadership teams.

Required profile

• Qualified lawyer with experience in telecom infrastructure or renewable‑energy transactions.
• Proven ability to accelerate deals to closing and assess portfolio risk.
• Hands‑on, entrepreneurial mindset with strong judgment in underwriting and deal structuring.
• Excellent collaboration skills with senior management, origination, pricing and property‑management teams.
