Biostatistician Trainee – Data Science

About the role

MEDSIR is looking for a Biostatistician Trainee to join its Scientific Department’s Data Science team in Barcelona. The role offers hands‑on experience in the full data lifecycle of oncology clinical trials, from collection to reporting, under the guidance of the Data Science Lead.

Key responsibilities

• Gather and compile data from clinical trials, research studies and healthcare databases.
• Clean, preprocess and validate raw data, handling missing values, outliers and formatting issues.
• Assist in statistical analysis and data modelling using tools such as Python and R.
• Prepare reports, dashboards and visualisations to communicate findings to project managers and clients.
• Document data sources, transformation steps and analysis methods for reproducibility.
• Support research projects by providing data‑related assistance and ensuring compliance with HIPAA and GDPR.

Required profile

• Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a quantitative programme (e.g., Statistics, Biostatistics, Data Science, Computer Science).
• Signed agreement with your academic centre (mandatory).
• Strong interest in oncology clinical research and data‑driven decision making.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Python.
• Proficiency in R.
• Basic knowledge of data cleaning and preparation techniques.
• Understanding of data privacy regulations such as HIPAA and GDPR.
