About the role

The Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) is seeking a dynamic Consultant in Development Effectiveness and Operations Management to provide strategic, technical, and operational support to project teams. The role focuses on enhancing the quality of design, execution, and closure of operations in line with institutional priorities and effectiveness frameworks.

Key responsibilities

• Review and strengthen project documents, including Project Design Documents (PDDs) and technical cooperation agreements, ensuring technical quality and consistency.
• Enhance theories of change, results matrices, and indicators to promote sound intervention logic and results measurement.
• Support evaluability of operations and alignment with IDB development effectiveness standards.
• Participate in corporate quality and approval processes, including SPD and OVE reviews.
• Provide technical assistance to project teams throughout design, review, and approval stages.
• Assist in monitoring ongoing operations, preparing and reviewing Progress Monitoring Reports (PMRs).
• Identify risks, bottlenecks, and improvement opportunities, proposing adjustments to strengthen performance.
• Contribute to the preparation and review of Project Completion Reports (PCRs) and result analysis.
• Systematize evidence, results, and lessons learned to enhance knowledge management.
• Facilitate coordination between operational teams and corporate units and support strategic division initiatives.

Required profile

• Master’s or Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent advanced degree) in economics, public policy, statistics, or related fields.
• At least 5 years of progressive experience in projects funded by multilateral organizations or the public sector.
• Fluency in Spanish and English (written and oral); additional knowledge of French and Portuguese is preferred.
• Citizenship of one of the IDB’s 48 member countries and eligibility to work for the organization.
