Data Center Operations Engineer (DCOE)

About the role

The Data Center Operations Engineer (DCOE) is responsible for the safe, reliable and efficient operation of critical data‑center infrastructure, ensuring service continuity and compliance with technical, safety and contractual requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Ensure continuous operation of critical infrastructure (electrical, mechanical, cooling, fire protection, low‑current systems) and monitor performance via BMS.
• Manage the incident lifecycle, conduct root‑cause analysis and drive corrective and preventive actions.
• Plan, supervise and document preventive and corrective maintenance using CMMS, and oversee change‑management processes to minimise operational risk.
• Coordinate on‑site technical vendors, monitor SLA/KPI compliance and lead performance‑review meetings.
• Act as the technical point of contact for customers during maintenance and incidents, support audits and provide clear communication.
• Maintain strict safety standards, enforce H&S procedures, conduct inspections and support RCA of safety incidents.

Required profile

• Degree in electrical, mechanical or related technical field (or equivalent experience).
• Minimum 5 years of experience in operations, critical facilities or industrial environments (data‑center experience a plus).
• Proven experience working with external vendors or service providers.
• Professional working proficiency in English.

• HV/LV electrical systems knowledge.
• Mechanical cooling and fire safety systems expertise.
• Building Management System (BMS) monitoring.
• Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) usage.
• Incident management and root‑cause analysis (RCA).
• Change management and SLA monitoring.
