DevOps Engineer – Cloud & Observability

About the role

Shakers is looking for a DevOps Engineer to join its Engineering team in Valencia. You will own the observability strategy, manage Kubernetes production workloads, and evolve the platform on Amazon EKS while collaborating closely with product squads.

Key responsibilities

• Design and implement end‑to‑end observability (logs, metrics, distributed traces) using Datadog.
• Define SLIs/SLOs, build actionable dashboards and context‑rich alerts to reduce MTTR.
• Manage and evolve Amazon EKS clusters, including networking, autoscaling, security, and upgrades.
• Own AWS infrastructure (VPC, IAM, RDS, S3, ECR, Lambda, CloudFront, Route53) with cost‑control best practices.
• Maintain infrastructure as code with Terraform and ensure consistent environments across dev, staging, and prod.
• Maintain and optimise CI/CD pipelines in GitLab (future GitHub Actions), improve build/deploy times, and enable feature flags, canary releases, and automated rollbacks.
• Apply security best practices, manage secrets, enforce network policies, and support ISO 27001 compliance.

Required profile

• 4–5 years of hands‑on experience in DevOps, SRE or cloud infrastructure roles.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Telecommunications Engineering, Mathematics or a related STEM field.
• Strong analytical mindset with a focus on why alerts fire and how to improve system reliability.

Required skills

• Amazon EKS production experience (cluster configuration, networking, service mesh).
• Deep knowledge of AWS services (VPC, IAM, RDS, S3, ECR, Lambda, CloudFront, Route53).
• Terraform for infrastructure‑as‑code.
• Datadog for monitoring, dashboards and alerting.
• Kubernetes administration and security hardening.
• CI/CD pipeline management with GitLab (and potential GitHub Actions).
• Shell scripting, Ansible, and AI‑assisted tooling for environment management.
