Early career mechanical engineer

About the role

We are looking for a creative early‑career mechanical engineer to support the mechanical analysis and testing of space structures and systems. The role focuses on structural dynamics, design verification and performance analysis of satellites, instruments and mechanisms. You will work within Airbus Defence and Space, contributing to cutting‑edge space projects.

Key responsibilities

• Identify and interpret mechanical requirements, especially related to space environments.
• Support static and dynamic structural analyses, verifying results through manual methods.
• Perform mechanical performance analyses for high‑precision space instruments.
• Assist in simulation, oversight and post‑test assessment of static and vibration testing.
• Develop FEM models using Hyperworks and NASTRAN, including validation of physical models.
• Verify strength of joints according to ESA standards and help develop internal workflow tools.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering or a related field.
• Prior experience in design and verification of aerospace structures is highly preferred.
• Strong knowledge of space‑specific requirements and composite structure design.
• Proactive, structured work style with ability to work independently and in a team.
• Fluent in English and Spanish, both written and spoken.

Required skills

• Finite Element Analysis (FEM) – static and dynamic.
• Proficiency with Nastran and Hyperworks.
• Programming in Matlab, Python, VBA or C++.
• Composite structure design and calculation.
• Understanding of ESA standards for joint verification.
