Engineering Technician (Marine Gas Turbine Inspector)

About the role

You will serve as a Marine Gas Turbine Inspector (MGTI) Engineering Technician within the Gas Turbine Product Family Division at the FDRMC Detachment in Rota. The position supports the operability and availability of shipboard marine gas turbine mechanical systems.

Key responsibilities

• Perform system testing to ensure marine gas turbine mechanical systems remain operational.
• Develop and propose innovative repair methods to meet ship schedules and availability deadlines.
• Oversee gas turbine inspections, managing special tools and calibration equipment accountability.
• Prepare technical reports and proposals outlining program responsibilities, approaches, and progress evaluation.
• Review mechanical engineering work performed by others for compliance with specifications.
• Troubleshoot equipment malfunctions and provide technical repair recommendations.
• Recommend solutions for air intake, exhaust, and related equipment problems.

Required profile

• U.S. citizen eligible for federal employment.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. passport; may require a visa for overseas assignment.
• Willingness to travel domestically and internationally, including extended periods on military or commercial aircraft.
• Compliance with overseas employment requirements and statement of understanding.
• Male applicants born after 12‑31‑1959 must be registered for Selective Service.
