Financial & Tax Accountant – Renewable Energy

About the role

We are seeking a hands‑on Financial & Tax Accountant to join our finance team supporting utility‑scale solar projects in Spain. Reporting to the Head of Financial Control, you will work within an international team of five and ensure accurate financial records, tax compliance, and timely reporting for operational solar assets.

Key responsibilities

• Record and maintain day‑to‑day financial transactions.
• Manage accounts payable, payment remittances, and treasury activities.
• Perform bank reconciliations and monitor cash movements.
• Support monthly, quarterly and annual closing processes.
• Prepare and review general‑ledger reconciliations and audit documentation.
• Ensure compliance with Spanish accounting standards and tax regulations.
• Prepare and file VAT, corporate income tax, electricity taxes and other renewable‑energy‑related tax returns.
• Collaborate with operational, project and external stakeholders.
• Assist with ad‑hoc financial and reporting tasks for investors.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field (MSc or MBA a plus).
• 5‑6 years of accounting and tax experience, preferably in renewable energy or project‑driven industries.
• Strong knowledge of Spanish GAAP and Spanish tax compliance.
• Hands‑on mentality with the ability to work independently in a fast‑paced environment.
• Professional fluency in both Spanish and English.

Required skills

• Experience with Business Central or similar ERP systems.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
