Fraud Prevention Manager

About the role

Fraud Operations is a key function within Preply's Customer Care organisation, protecting the financial integrity of the marketplace and ensuring a safe experience for learners and tutors worldwide. As the Fraud Prevention Manager you will lead the team, own the strategy, operations and people, and act as the primary fraud authority for the company.

Key responsibilities

• Lead, manage and develop a team of Fraud Specialists, setting expectations and fostering a high‑judgement culture.
• Own the Fraud Operations roadmap, aligning priorities with broader business goals.
• Design investigation standards, workflows, escalation protocols and documentation frameworks.
• Define, track and improve KPIs such as chargeback rate, dispute resolution SLAs and false‑positive rate.
• Partner with Product, Payments and Finance to embed fraud risk into key decisions and shape detection roadmaps.
• Present fraud performance, risk insights and strategic recommendations to senior leadership.

Required profile

• 6‑8+ years of experience in fraud operations, payments risk or financial crime, with people‑management experience.
• Proven track record leading fraud or risk operations in a marketplace, fintech or e‑commerce environment.
• Strong data fluency and ability to translate operational observations into product requirements.
• Experience owning operational KPIs and driving continuous improvement.

Required skills

• Fraud investigation methodology and chargeback management.
• Data analysis and KPI reporting.
• Understanding of AI/ML models applied to fraud detection.
• SQL.
• BI tools such as Looker or Tableau.
• Experience with fraud detection platforms (e.g., Sardine, Sift, Feedzai, Kount).
