Intern, Audit & Forensic Accounting

About the role

FTI Consulting is looking for a full-time, 6-month internship in its Forensic Accounting & Litigation Support team in Madrid. You will join a multidisciplinary team of forensic accountants, fraud investigators and corporate intelligence experts who support law firms, banks, regulatory bodies and companies in Spain and around the world with disputes ranging from public international law claims to complex commercial, investment or regulatory matters, as well as corporate fraud, whistleblowing, asset tracing and bribery and corruption investigations.

Key responsibilities

• Work alongside experienced professionals and take part in projects such as accounting disputes, damages analysis and financial investigations, including supporting the preparation of expert witness reports.
• Develop skills in forensic accounting and financial analysis of complex transactions, and in interpreting financial statements, accounting records and business plans.
• Carry out fraud investigations, including analysis of transactional flows, detection of patterns and assessment of supporting evidence.
• Contribute to damages reviews and assessments in the context of litigation.
• Structure and analyse financial and documentary information so that events are traceable and investigations run smoothly.
• Use data analytics, especially transactional data analysis, to spot trends, anomalies and areas of financial risk.
• Support the preparation of reports, presentations and findings.

Required profile

• Availability to complete a full-time, 6-month internship starting between January and March 2027.
• Graduation date after January 2023; studies must be completed before the start date.
• A degree in Business Administration and Management, Economics or a double degree combining Law is desirable.
• Fluency in English and Spanish.

Required skills

• Excellent academic background and very good understanding of financial statements.
• Attention to detail, curiosity, excellent report writing and analytical skills.
• Ability to use the Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint) professionally.
• Strong work ethic, results-driven, able to handle pressure and tight deadlines, and able to manage a wide range of responsibilities.
