Junior Electronics Engineer - UAV Systems

About the role

Destinus develops Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) for defense applications and is looking for a Junior Electronics Engineer in Madrid. The role suits early-career engineers who want to learn by doing, working alongside senior engineers on real flight hardware and defense programs, with a clear path toward becoming a system engineer.

Key responsibilities

• Support senior and lead engineers in day-to-day electronic and system engineering across multiple programs.
• Assist in integrating electronic subsystems into larger aerospace systems.
• Take part in test preparation: setting up hardware, instrumentation and test configurations, and supporting execution, monitoring and basic troubleshooting.
• Collect, organize and analyze test data to support engineering evaluations and design improvements, and help investigate root causes of issues.
• Contribute to technical documentation and test reports, and support continuous improvement in engineering and testing.
• Coordinate with software, mechanical and test engineers, and gradually take ownership of defined tasks and subsystems.

Required profile

• Academic background in Electronics Engineering or a closely related field.
• Fluency in Spanish and English, able to work confidently in technical environments.
• Proactive attitude and strong desire to learn in a fast-moving engineering environment.
• Adaptable, curious and comfortable switching between theory and practice.

Required skills

• Plus: familiarity with avionics such as autopilot, radar altimeter, air data units, magnetometers, AHRS, GPS, anti-jamming and anti-spoofing solutions, servos, and firmware updates.
• Plus: electrical drawings with AutoCAD Electrical, Zuken E3 or similar CAD software, version control, TCP/UDP networking, Python scripting and Linux Ubuntu commands.
• Plus: serial protocols (RS232, RS422, RS485, Ethernet), ground support equipment (multimeter, oscilloscope, spectrum analyzer, etc.) and radio control or FPV drone experience.
• Availability to support ground and flight testing.
