Kubernetes Infrastructure Reliability Engineer

About the role

Roche is looking for a Kubernetes Infrastructure Reliability Engineer in Madrid to join its global CaaS infrastructure team. The engineer builds and maintains a highly available Kubernetes platform across hybrid cloud deployments, including on-premise data centers and public clouds such as AWS, combining software and systems engineering to automate operations, increase efficiency and strengthen security and observability.

Key responsibilities

• Capacity planning and launch reviews for services, blameless postmortems and proactive identification of potential outages
• Solve complex problems in the global Kubernetes infrastructure, lead end-to-end design of infrastructure solutions, evaluate solutions via PoCs and act as escalation point for major incidents
• Bridge engineering and operations, present complex information to cross-functional teams and the business, and influence vendor product evaluations
• Mentor developers on creating and deploying cloud-native applications
• Provide technical leadership for small-to-medium initiatives, ensure compliance with quality and regulatory standards and the Technical Architecture Framework, and help plan projects

Required profile

• Experience: 4-7 years without a degree, 2-5 years with a Bachelor's, 1-3 years with a Master's
• At least 1 year in a multinational environment; healthcare experience is a plus
• Fluent spoken and written English, ability to work across time zones, and a 24/7 on-call rotation is required

Required skills

• Kubernetes and containers, including distributed storage; CKA certification is a strong plus
• Infrastructure as Code with Ansible and Terraform
• Scripting in Python, Bash or Go, including test automation and API deployment
• CI/CD pipelines with Jenkins, Rundeck or GitLab
• Linux, networking (DNS, load balancing, firewalls, service meshes) and observability (logging, metrics, alerting)
• AWS managed services (EKS, VPC, IAM); Scrum and Agile; TAF and regulatory compliance
