Launchpad Structures Design & Analysis Engineer

About the role

As a member of the launch complex team at PLD Space, you will lead the design and validation of metallic structures for launch pads. You will ensure that all structural components meet performance, safety, and manufacturing requirements throughout the product lifecycle.

Key responsibilities

• Design metallic launch‑pad structures, including machined components, beams, sheet‑metal parts, and welded assemblies.
• Perform stress justification using hand calculations and finite‑element analysis for both metals and composites.
• Conduct random, sine, and modal dynamic analyses.
• Generate engineering documentation: 3D models, detailed drawings, BOMs, calculation reports, manuals, and technical reports.
• Collaborate with hydraulic, fluid, mechanism, and other engineering disciplines to provide required information for manufacturing and mounting.
• Support the sub‑system requirements from prototype through testing to production.
• Assist the supply‑chain team in purchasing designed elements, ensuring compliance with specifications, delivery schedules, and cost targets.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering.
• Minimum 3 years of experience in structural design and analysis.
• Proficiency with 3D CAD tools (SolidWorks, Solid Edge, NX, CATIA, Inventor).
• Proficiency with FEM software (CypeCad, SolidWorks Simulation, ANSYS, Altair).
• Strong knowledge of design criteria, material selection, and mechanical properties.
