Legal Counsel – Capital Markets

About the role

Santander Corporate & Investment Banking is seeking a qualified lawyer to join its Markets Legal team in Boadilla del Monte. You will support the execution of sophisticated capital‑markets transactions, ensuring they are carried out safely and efficiently.

Key responsibilities

• Provide legal advice on capital‑markets transactions, including issuance of structured notes linked to derivatives such as interest rates, inflation, FX, equity and credit.
• Draft and review full‑suite documentation: prospectuses, term sheets, notes T&Cs, placement and dealer agreements, and corporate approvals.
• Advise on traditional and synthetic securitisations and related finance‑linked swaps.
• Support derivative transactions across all asset classes, repos, securities lending, structured loans, deposits and risk‑transfer structures.
• Collaborate with product experts to develop deep technical expertise in market products.

Required profile

• Qualified lawyer with experience in capital‑markets or structured finance.
• Strong knowledge of European and US jurisdictional requirements.
• Ability to work independently and manage complex, multi‑jurisdictional transactions.

Required skills

• Legal drafting of capital‑markets documentation.
• Understanding of structured notes, securitisation and derivative products.
• Familiarity with regulatory frameworks governing securities issuance.
