M&A Trainee – Full‑time Off‑Cycle Position

About the role

Haitong Bank is seeking a motivated M&A Trainee to join its Madrid office. The role offers immediate involvement in both new business generation and live deal execution, supporting the team across the full transaction lifecycle.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare marketing and execution materials such as teasers, information memorandums, and management presentations in English and Spanish.
• Conduct industry and company research, develop market and comparable benchmarks, and support valuation analyses.
• Assist the deal team throughout ongoing processes, ensuring timely delivery of high‑quality deliverables.
• Collaborate closely with senior bankers and other functional teams to drive transaction progress.

Required profile

• Strong academic background with solid understanding of accounting and finance.
• Exceptional attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to meet tight deadlines.
• Proactive team player with a positive and flexible attitude.
• Fluent in English and Spanish (both spoken and written); Chinese is a plus.
• Previous experience in corporate finance, ECM, M&A, private equity, or corporate development is valued.

Required skills

• Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• Familiarity with financial data platforms such as Bloomberg, Capital IQ, Orbis, and Mergermarket.
