Mechanical Design Engineer – Aerospace Hardware

About the role

Orbital Paradigm is developing reusable orbital logistics systems and seeks a Mechanical Design Engineer to drive the full hardware development lifecycle. You will translate concepts into detailed designs, oversee manufacturing, and support integration and testing of flight‑ready hardware.

Key responsibilities

• Develop 3D CAD models, assemblies and detailed manufacturing drawings.
• Design mechanical systems, structures, mechanisms and interfaces for spacecraft hardware.
• Perform tolerance analysis and apply GD&T principles.
• Select appropriate materials, fasteners and manufacturing processes.
• Prepare and maintain engineering documentation, BOMs and CAD data.
• Interface with suppliers, machine shops and manufacturing partners.
• Participate directly in fabrication, machining, assembly and integration activities.
• Support subsystem integration campaigns and hands‑on fit‑check activities.
• Assist functional, environmental and qualification testing campaigns.
• Troubleshoot manufacturing, integration and test issues and drive corrective actions.

Required profile

• 4+ years of professional experience in aerospace, automotive or high‑performance industries.
• Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering or a related field.
• Proven end‑to‑end experience designing, manufacturing and validating at least one mechanical component or subsystem.
• Strong fundamentals in mechanical design, tolerancing and GD&T.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast‑paced hardware development environment.
