MEP Design Manager – Critical Infrastructure Projects

About the role

Bryden Wood is expanding its European client base and seeks an experienced MEP Design Manager to lead the design delivery of critical infrastructure projects, including hyperscale data centres. The role is based in either Barcelona or Madrid and operates in a hybrid model, combining client‑facing activities with internal coordination.

Key responsibilities

• Act as the primary point of contact for all project stakeholders, providing regular updates on status, risks and changes.
• Develop and maintain detailed project plans, work‑pack schedules and timelines to ensure on‑time delivery.
• Coordinate MEP design inputs with architects, structural, civil engineers and specialist sub‑consultants.
• Oversee third‑party sub‑consultants such as BMS & Controls, Earthing & Lightning, Fuel‑Security, Fire and ICT consultants.
• Identify, assess and mitigate project risks, escalating issues when necessary.
• Manage scope, budget, resources, quality and schedule throughout the project lifecycle.
• Prepare and deliver presentations for project sponsors and steering committees.
• Conduct post‑project reviews to capture lessons learned and best practices.

Required profile

• Proven experience delivering complex building or infrastructure projects, preferably in critical infrastructure or data centre environments.
• Strong knowledge of local Spanish codes and international MEP standards.
• Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively with cross‑functional internal and external teams.
