Microwave Instruments Engineer Internship – Airbus Discover II

About the role

Airbus is offering an 11‑month full‑time internship in its Microwave Instruments Engineering department in Getafe, Spain, as part of the Discover II graduate programme starting October 2026. The role focuses on the design and testing of building blocks for space‑borne radars and radiometers used in Earth observation missions.

Key responsibilities

• Design and analyse antennas and RF circuits for space applications.
• Model instrument RF performance and conduct simulations using CST, HFSS or similar tools.
• Calculate instrument performance metrics and support data post‑processing.
• Develop and model prototypes of microwave subsystems.
• Contribute to proposals and research projects for the European Space Agency.

Required profile

• Degree in engineering, physics or a related field with a focus on radio‑frequency technologies.
• Fluent in English (reading and writing); Spanish is a plus.
• Availability to start in early October 2026 for an 11‑month period.

Required skills

• Experience with RF electromagnetic simulation software (CST, HFSS or equivalent).
• Proficiency in MATLAB and Python for data analysis and modelling.
